Hi! Hello? Anybody there? I’m bringing you some Christmas biscuits and winter berries! Oh, there you are. Stop scrolling and help me eat the biscuits!
Now that I have your attention, my dearest Strawberrian, I wish you all the best. I sure hope that you’ll be able to take a break during this festive season.
This includes taking a break from social media. Forget about content creation, posting, counting likes… Spend time with your family and friends and, of course, with your favourite berry. That’s me, Blue, if you were wondering.
Instagram’s new Take a Break feature
Earlier this month, Instagram launched a new feature that reminds users that they are spending too much time on it.
Wait, what? Isn’t that, like… Counterintuitive to what a social media platform would usually do? Isn’t it in Instagram’s best interest to encourage people to use more of it, not less?
Well, actually, they’ve acknowledged the fact that people, especially teenagers, tend to spend unhealthy amounts of time on social media. We can easily develop a habit of excessive scrolling through our feed.
Let’s admit it – we’ve all been there. We open our Instagram (or any other platform) “to just quickly check something”, but we end up mindlessly scrolling for hours on end.
Instagram’s new Take a Break feature, first introduced in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Australia, will soon be available to all users and remind them that they should simply – take a break.
How does Take a Break work?
Take a Break feature is available in Settings. Users can choose the time span after which they’ll be alerted, i.e. after 10, 20 or 30 minutes of scrolling.
The alert comes in the form of a full-screen notification that reminds you to close the app, take a deep breath, write down your thoughts, do something from your to-do list or listen to your favourite song.
Can you think of any other fun or useful things to do offline? Hang out with Blue? Check.
Eat all the left-over Christmas biscuits? Check.
How to take a break from social media if you run a business
I’m aware that I’ve told you a zillion times about the importance of being part of various social media platforms if you run a business.
It’s always a good idea to keep up with social media trends. Of course, from time to time, you have to check for yourself what’s going on, what your friends or competitors are up to.
However, it seems that time often flies on social media. Before you know it, you’ve already spent hours posting on your profiles, looking at funny cat videos or your competitors’ stories.
Don’t forget that Blue has a number of awesome features that will help you manage your different social media platforms. We can help you with campaign creation, design and content creation – image editing and video feature, and posting – flexible scheduling.
Blue Strawberry AI makes every step of the process very simple, user-friendly and automatic.
Now go on. Play with your cat instead of watching other cats on Instagram. We don’t want Sprinkles to become jealous.
And once again, all the best and – take a break.
